Water Service Area Plan
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has defined a water-supply planning framework for larger public water systems that requries roviders that serve communities of 10,000 or more people — or those planning to grow to that size — to prepare a forward-looking “Water Supply Service Area Plan.”
These plans are designed to go beyond immediate operations, laying out a 10–20-year horizon that inventories current water sources (wells, intakes, purchased supplies), evaluates system capacity and infrastructure, estimates future population and water demand growth, and identifies alternative supply or conservation strategies. By doing so, communities can better anticipate potential shortages, avoid over-extension of water resources, and support sustainable water service over the long term.

In accordance with Wisconsin Administrative Code NR854, the City of Reedsburg has prepared a Water Supply Service Area Plan (Plan). The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources requires a Water Supply Service Area Plan for public water systems serving a population of 10,000 or more. The general purpose of the Plan is to inventory and assess the existing water supply sources and their ability to meet current and projected future water demands.
In accordance with NR854, a public informational meeting will be held in conjunction with the Utility Commission meeting scheduled for Monday December 15, at 4:00 pm to review the proposed Plan and allow for public comment. Please see link for a digital copy of the Plan.
